Sonneville is a Key Partner in Gotthard Tunnel Restoration

Sonneville plays a pivotal role in the restoration efforts of the Gotthard Tunnel in Switzerland. Following the recent incident, which damaged a length of the LVT track in service since 2016, Sonneville swiftly mobilized its resources to meet the urgent demand for replacement LVT rail supports.

Utilizing its state-of-the-art facility in Müntschemier, Vigier Rail and Sonneville ramped up production to ensure a rapid turnaround time. The team has worked seamlessly to produce the required LVT blocks as quickly as possible, assuring high quality. As the production of replacement LVT blocks comes to a successful conclusion and the installation work in the tunnel progresses as planned, Sonneville looks forward to the Gotthard Base Tunnel resuming track installation competition in May 2024 and full operation by September 2024, as anticipated by the SBB.
